Celebrating our 32nd year!
The ORIGINAL Hamfest in Durham Region!
The BIG ONE!

Header

The Durham Region Amateur Radio Hamfest, is Canada's largest amateur radio hamfest. Attendance, table sales, vendors and floor space has been steadily increasing and for 1999, our floor space exceeded 43,000 sq ft.

Each year you are invited to meet and hear outstanding authorities on all facets of amateur radio. Manufacturers and commercial vendors show their latest equipment and are always pleased to answer any questions about their wares.

The Hamfest is an annual event bringing together manufacturers, commercial vendors and the end user to provide information, services and equipment. It is a one day show and sale providing financial support for two local amateur radio clubs, their activities and equipment.

History

2008 will be our 32nd annual show. Previously the Hamfest had been held at the Pickering High school with attendances starting at about 1000 per event. Our first shows consisted of one room (750 Sq Ft.) in the school cafeteria growing to the point where we had to expand to the North hall of the Metro East Trade Center (20000 Sq ft).  Due to the tearing down of the Metro East Trade Centre to allow for shopping centre development, we moved our Hamfest to our present location at Iroquois Park in Whitby.

What are Hams and what do they like?

Hams, or Amateur Radio Operators are people who like talking/meeting with other people, and playing with gadgets. Their interests generally involve amateur radios and accessories, computers, electronics and shortwave radio.
